Technical
Taltarni's estate grown reds are renowned as some of Australias longest lived and most cellar-worthy.
vintage
An early spring allowed for a great start to the season where the grapes produced were concentrated in flavour and of the highest quality.
winemaking
The partial whole bunch ferments were submerged by heading down and by using a combination of pump overs and delestage this added to the richness and complexity of the wine. Allowing natural fermentation to occur at the start and co-inoculation of malolactic fermentation which completes in a combination of new and seasoned French oak barriques.
The addition of Mourvèdre into the blend enhances the spice and the drive along the backbone of the palate.
The 2022 Estate Shiraz emanates aromas of black fruits, pepper and spice with earthy overtones. This aroma is balanced perfectly with a medium-bodied wine that is equally rich in flavour. The dark forest fruits and subtle oak flavours complement the persistent dusty tannins and chocolate notes on finish.

93 Points & Silver Medal – 2024 Halliday Companion
"This wine displays its seriousness from the start with fragrant cherry fruit and a whisper of anise. It bursts with ripe, opulent red and dark fruit framed by bold, robust tannin, and an enchanting thread of black pepper weaves through the palate. If drinking young, decanting is paramount; otherwise, tuck it away to mature and harmonise” – Toni Paterson
