Technical
The Taltarni ‘Discovery’ range of wines is comprised of some rare and some not-so-rare varietals and blends that are a little off the beaten track. These wines allow our winemakers to experiment with style, structure, taste, and artistic expression and give drinkers of these wines the opportunity of Discovery.
vintage
The 2022 Growing season was temperate compared to traditional seasons on the estate. The vines had ideal growing conditions with minimum heat and water stress allowing the two key components of this blend to exhibit more delicate and subtle characteristics normally associated with their varieties.
winemaking
Grenache was planted in 2016 with this blend in mind. This inaugural harvest of Grenache was picked based on allowing the fruit to reach flavour ripeness before over-developing tannin. In what was an extremely dry season, the Shiraz came into the winery first in early March followed by the Grenache in late March and the Mourvedre in early April.

"These classic Rhone varietals have been expertly blended to create a wine with harmony and flow. The wine offers effortless drinking, with flavoursome dark cherry fruit accented by black pepper, anise, and red rose. Everything is in balance, and there are no harsh edges. Rather delicious.” – Toni Paterson
