Technical
The Taltarni ‘Discovery’ range of wines is comprised of some rare and some not-so-rare varietals and blends that are a little off the beaten track. These wines allow our winemakers to experiment with style, structure, taste, and artistic expression and give drinkers of these wines the opportunity of Discovery.
vintage
The 2023 Vintage produced optimal growing conditions for the Pyrenees reds, the fruit exhibited intense flavours while maintaining a balanced structure. These growing conditions also allowed the fruit to be harvested at ideal stages, to get the best from the fruit.
winemaking
Our Discovery Grenache was planted in 2016 with this blend in mind. This is our inaugural release of single varietal Grenache having used it in blends the previous vintage. It was picked in late March to allow the fruit to reach flavour ripeness before over-developing tannin.
After 6 months of maturation in older French oak, each barrel was assessed, and the wine was blended to bring out the best qualities of this variety.
